Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 16, 2026
Newcomers Careers (newcomerscareers.ca) is operated by Jobsites Test Operator ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Newcomers Careers, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We handle personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Information we collect
Job seekers can browse and view jobs without creating an account.
- Account information: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Employer and company information you enter: company name, contact name, email and phone number, business locations and logo.
- Job postings you create, including descriptions, wages and locations.
- Billing records: invoices, payments and refunds. Card details are entered on Stripe’s payment pages; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Messages we send you, such as verification, receipts and job-expiry notices, and your notification preferences.
- Security information: a one-way hash of your IP address when a sign-in attempt fails, used to block password-guessing attacks.
- Technical information when something goes wrong: browser type, pages visited and error details.
How we use it
We do not send marketing emails.
- To run your account and publish, renew and expire your job postings.
- To take payments, issue invoices and receipts, and process refunds.
- To send service emails you need, and optional notices you can turn off.
- To protect accounts and the platform from abuse and fraud.
- To find and fix errors.
Service providers
We share personal information only with providers that help us run the service, under contracts that limit how they may use it. Some store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — sending email.
- Cloudflare — website hosting and file storage.
- Railway — application servers and database, hosted in Canada or the United States.
- GlitchTip — error monitoring, on a server we operate.
Cookies
We use cookies that are needed for the site to work: secure sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, and, for recruiting agencies, a cookie that remembers which agency you last selected. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
How long we keep information
- Failed sign-in records: 30 days.
- In-app notifications: 90 days.
- Billing records: 6 years, as Canadian tax law requires.
- Account and posting information: while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove or anonymize your personal information, except records we must keep by law.
Your choices and rights
You can view and correct your account and company information from your dashboard, change which notices we email you, and delete your account from your account settings. You may also ask us for access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent where applicable.
To make a request or a privacy complaint, contact our privacy officer at support@newcomerscareers.ca. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. For material changes, we will also email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect.
